Adoption Contract

The following terms and conditions constitute a legal contract for the adoption of the cat described on page one of this contract between Little Muffins Kitten Rescue and the Adopter.

____ The Adopter will donate a non-refundable adoption fee of $___ to Little Muffins Kitten Rescue.

____ The Adopter agrees to provide proper care, including daily exercise and a healthy diet, for the cat. The cat will be an indoor companion and will be treated with loving care and affection at all times. The Adopter agrees to ensure the cat’s safety and well-being and will not allow the cat to roam freely outside.

____ The Adopter agrees to take the cat to a licensed veterinarian within two months of the adoption date on this contract for a checkup. The Adopter understands no refund will be given for vet expenses they may incur.

____ The Adopter agrees to provide the cat with veterinary care upon sickness, disease, or injury, and will take the cat to the vet at least once a year for an annual health examination and necessary vaccinations.

____ The Adopter agrees to never permit or allow the cat to be declawed under any circumstances. Adopter understands that declawing is viewed as mutilation.

____ If the Adopter’s contact information or address changes, the adopter will notify Little Muffins Kitten Rescue and provide updated information.

____ The Adopter also agrees to accept responsibility and ownership of the cat as of the date of this contract and to release Little Muffins Kitten Rescue and its representatives from any and all liability arising out of possession and ownership of the cat. Little Muffins Kitten Rescue will not be held responsible for any damages and expenses (veterinary or other) incurred during ownership of the pet.

____ If at any time in the future the Adopter cannot continue to provide proper care for the cat, the Adopter will not abandon, give or sell the cat to another person, company, organization, medical research, pound or animal shelter. The adopter agrees to do one or more of the following:
A. Return the cat to Little Muffins Kitten Rescue. The adopter understands that they will not be eligible for a refund of any fees.
B. Obtain approval from Little Muffins Kitten Rescue to transfer the ownership of the cat to a friend or relative. Little Muffins Kitten Rescue must approve the new adopter who will be required to sign an agreement similar to this one.
I have read and understand the terms of this adoption agreement. I understand that by voluntarily signing this agreement, I am entering into a legal and binding contract with Little Muffins Kitten Rescue. I agree that breach of any term(s) of this agreement or any misrepresentations gives Little Muffins Kitten Rescue or their representatives the right to reclaim possession of the cat without refund of adoption fee and / or pursue civil recourse.
